What to do before we arrive
Keep the door shut. Get a probe thermometer into the product rather than reading air temperature, because air recovers fast and product does not. Write down the time you first noticed and what the temperature was, because that log is what protects you later. If you have somewhere to move the highest value product, start moving it now rather than waiting for a verdict.
How we triage
On the phone we will ask what the box is reading, what the product is reading, whether the evaporator is iced, and whether the condenser fan is turning. Those four answers tell us most of what we need to bring, which is the difference between one visit and two.
We will tell you if it can wait
Not every call is an emergency call, and an after hours rate on a problem that will hold until morning is not a favour. If what you are describing can safely wait, we will say so and book you first thing instead.
