What usually goes wrong
Most calls we run come down to a handful of causes. Airflow that has been strangled by a dirty coil or a collapsed duct. A capacitor that has aged out. A contactor that is pitted and no longer pulling in. A refrigerant charge that is low because there is a leak, not because refrigerant gets used up. A control board or thermostat that is telling the system to do the wrong thing.
The reason that list matters is that several of those look identical on a set of gauges. Low airflow across an evaporator reads like an undercharge. If a technician tops off the charge without finding the restriction, you pay for refrigerant, the system runs worse, and the leak is still there.
How we work the call
We measure before we quote. Temperature split, static pressure, amp draw on the compressor and the fan, and a look at the coil on both ends. Then you get the finding in plain language, what it costs, and if there is a cheaper option that will hold, we tell you that too.
Repair or replace
If the equipment is old enough that the repair is a meaningful fraction of a replacement, we will say so and show you both numbers. We would rather lose a repair ticket than sell you a fix on a system that is going to fail again in six weeks.
