Commercial refrigeration

Walk in cooler repair.

A walk in that drifts five degrees overnight is not a comfort problem. It is spoiled inventory and a health inspection you do not want.

Cooling or refrigeration down right now?

After hours emergency service is available. Say it is an emergency when you call.

What usually fails

In order of how often we find it: a fouled condenser that cannot reject heat, a defrost cycle that is not terminating so the evaporator ices over solid, door gaskets and heaters that have given up and are letting warm wet air in all day, a blocked or frozen condensate drain, and refrigerant loss, which is always a leak and never consumption.

Most of those look like each other from outside the box. A coil buried in ice and a low charge both show up as a room that will not pull down. The difference matters because one is an hour with a steamer and the other is a leak search.

What it costs while it is down

Product first, but the number people forget is the hours. A cooler down at open on a Friday can mean a shortened menu, a delivery you have to refuse, and a walk in you have to load into somebody else box across town. We work the call around that clock rather than around ours.

What we do on the visit

Box temperature and product temperature logged separately, superheat and subcooling rather than a gauge glance, condenser and evaporator condition, defrost operation watched through a cycle where it matters, door seal and heater check, and drain flow. Then a straight answer on repair against replace with both numbers.

Walk in cooler repair by city

We run crews in two regions. These are the cities where we do the most commercial work. If yours is not here, we almost certainly still cover it, so call the number for your side of the state.

Who we do this for

Before you book

Questions we get on the phone.

My walk in is at 48 degrees. What do I do right now?
Stop opening the door, get a thermometer on the product rather than the air, and call it in as an emergency. If product has been above 41 degrees for four hours that is a decision you make with your health inspector in mind, and we will tell you honestly what we are seeing when we arrive.
Why does my evaporator keep icing up?
Usually a defrost that is not terminating properly, a failed heater, or warm humid air getting in past a bad gasket. Chipping the ice off clears the symptom for a day. Finding out why it iced is the actual repair.
Is it worth repairing an old box?
Sometimes. The panels and the door usually outlive two refrigeration systems, so replacing the equipment on a sound box is often the right call rather than replacing the whole room. We will show you both numbers.
